RAYMARINE REDESIGNS LIGHTHOUSE II

Raymarine Redesigns Lighthouse II

The recent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show saw Raymarine debut an upgraded user-friendly interface for its new LightHouse Charts, along with over 20 additional new features.

LightHouse II is the ninth release of Raymarine’s successful multifunction display user interface, and has been completely redesigned, according to Raymarine, to give users a simpler, more user-friendly experience.

Grégoire Outters, Raymarine’s general manager, said: “In 2011 we released the first version of LightHouse when we launched the award-winning e7 MFD. Since then we have rapidly released 18 new multifunction displays models using the LightHouse interface and now we are very excited to announce our next big move, LightHouse II. With its striking design and new features, LightHouse II is an exciting step into the future for Raymarine and our customers. Best of all, LightHouse II is free for Raymarine owners, giving them a new, user-friendly, experience that’s almost like getting a brand new Raymarine multifunction display.”

Raymarine says users will notice how the new home screen (with easy-to-read icons) has been enhanced with new high-contrast colour schemes. In response to customer feedback, says Raymarine, there’s a new LightHouse II menu system; it’s been reorganised for quicker access to frequently used features and controls. Improved visual indicators and touch-friendly slider controls are also said to make navigating LightHouse II easier.

LightHouse II also has a new chart engine to support Raymarine’s new chart format, LightHouse Charts. For its US debut, Raymarine said it was offering free NOAA charts for navigating U.S. coastal waters.

“The LightHouse II chart engine is also engineered for the future, allowing Raymarine to offer new LightHouse chart types and regions from around the globe, making it the most powerful version of LightHouse so far. LightHouse II also supports industry-leading Navionics vector charts including Navionics new community-sourced Sonar charts,” said a Raymarine media announcement before the Fort Lauderdale show.
