Clipper Yachts Explorer 50

The new 15m luxury boat recently arrived in Queensland, where it is expected to be joined by a Clipper Explorer 46 early in 2016.

These long range pilothouse bluewater cruisers are designed by Australian naval architect Mark Williamson and the Explorer 50 is available in two versions — a two-cabin two-bathroom layout; or three cabins with a single bathroom.

The twin cabin version offers a full width master stateroom amidships with island bed, plus a generous VIP cabin forward, both with ensuites.

Both models feature Clipper’s apartment-style saloon and galley, with interior fittings available in glossy African teak or a lighter, more modern Anigre wood finish.

Williamson has created a typical Clipper semi-displacement hull design, but this is offered in single shaftdrive diesel or twin diesel configurations.

The versatile passage-making hull is said to permit economical long-range cruising at 8kts, but can also attain sprint speeds of 18kts, depending on engine horsepower and configuration.

The upright trawler-style Clipper Explorer 50 is also said to offer excellent views and plenty of natural light from tall saloon windows, while the flybridge deck provides plenty of entertaining space, either underway or on the hook.
