PROCRAFT 580 COASTAL

Procraft 580 Coastal

Burleigh, Queensland based Procraft Boats are in the midst of a substantial expansion programme at the moment. We were first introduced to the brand when we reviewed their well-credentialed and great value alloy console and runabout variants earlier this year, but this is the first we’ve seen of their first foray into the glass segment.

The lines look quite pleasing to my eye with its high waist, gently sloping cabin and smart sheerline towards the transom accentuated by the two-tone gelcoat. The deep forefoot with integrated bowsprit gives it a generous 6.2m overall length. Foam filled hull voids should endow the rig with a quiet ride while a 20 degree deadrise hints at a decent compromise between ride comfort across chop and stability at rest.

Official launched at the Brisbane Boat Show, the 580 Coastal sits midway between the larger 620 and smaller 530 Coastal and at first appearance seems great value. At $49,990 ex Gold Coast, the package includes a 115hp Suzuki, Dunbier trailer, bimini, basic sounder, VHF radio, safety pack and Queensland rego.

While the model is described as a walkaround, the narrow cabin surround looks to provides access forward in a pinch. A full length bowrail might be a nice addition and provide additional security when accessing this zone.

We’ve booked our Queensland tester, Kevin Smith for a ride and we’ll bring you the full review of this new addition to the local landscape in a forthcoming issue.
