Preloved: 2018 Maritimo M59

This late-model M59 offers a flybridge deck that doubles your entertaining options

It’s not too late to hit the water in style this summer with this 2018 Maritimo flybridge motoryacht. It’s new to market but arrives handsomely decked out with a swag of extra features.

Whether your late-summer plans involve long-range cruising, casual fishing or entertaining with friends, this M59 has less than 300 hours on its Volvo D13 engines and is ready to head over the horizon.

The timeless M59 model enjoyed significant upgrades in 2018, including panoramic hull side windows that inject more light to the interior, styling tweaks and a more user-friendly helm.

There’s a reason Maritimo’s versatile 59-footer has cemented its spot among this popular range — it finds a sweet niche that delivers both ease-of-handling for a couple and solid seakeeping ability, plus includes generous accommodation spaces (six guests in cabins overnight with the option of two more on a fold-out in the flybridge).

HIGHRISE HI-JINKS

The fully-enclosed flybridge is undeniably one of the main drawcards on the M59, offering an all-weather helming option with unrivalled views for the skipper and lucky companions.

This upper deck virtually doubles your outdoor entertaining area with its long aft verandah extending almost all the way to the transom.

Overhead is a bimini to provide shade from the harsh Australian sun, but what we really loved on this vessel was the cantilevered rear bench, which seems to hover in space above the aft deck.

Access between decks is via Maritimo’s signature floating staircase for easy and safe passage up and down, regardless of the weather outside.

The interior of this M59 positively glows with dark gloss timber joinery complemented by neutral tones for the soft furnishings.

A welcoming saloon is located forward on the entertainment deck, where plush lounges on both sides of the vessel make the most of space delivered by removing the lower helm station.

The galley is located aft for convenient access to the outdoor dining area where guests can enjoy alfresco meals under the shelter of the overhead hardtop.

This single-level entertaining zone ensures the chef is always part of the action as they enjoy the various full-size Miele appliances at their disposal.

Moving further aft, there’s a barbecue and cooler set into the lazarette at the swimplatform, which is clad in teak and hydraulically actuates for launching the included 3.1m Sirocco tender — you can’t get more convenient than that!

EASY HANDLING

Also on port side of the aft deck is a remote helm station for ease of berthing — the skipper can be on-hand to take lines and enjoys close quarters viewing of the dock. This is an ideal setup for husband-wife teams who may wish to run this boat on their own.

A powered capstan at the starboard quarter also assists with handling lines or running out a stern anchor if required.

Belowdecks, a pair of super-efficient Volvo D13 engines push out 800hp per side, turning Maritimo’s famously reliable shaftdrives.

In combination with 4500L tanks and Maritimo’s race-proven hull design, the D13s deliver an enviable range that will see you comfortably eating up bluewater miles.

GUESTS GALORE

Moving downstairs to the accommodation deck, the offset master stateroom is a pleasant surprise, offering both a wealth of space and ample natural light.

This cabin enjoys a private entrance leading aft from the companionway, past a small mezzanine area with a desk, to the supremely comfortable owner’s retreat — much larger than that of comparable 60-foot vessels.

The forward VIP offers an island berth for guests, sharing access to a semi-ensuite with the third cabin featuring two single berths that can convert to a double as required. This is supplemented by an extra pull-out berth in the skylounge.

The real drawcard of this M59 is the practicality and attractiveness of the enclosed flybridge, due to the extra entertaining space it frees up and for unsurpassed driving comfort.

Overall, this M59 cleverly blends inspired thinking and proven design to produce a flybridge cruiser offering unequalled style and luxury, all for a fraction of the as-new price.
