WHAT’S NEW WITH THE AXIS T22?

The “T” in the Axis Wake T22 stands for “tradition” — which on the T22 means the boat has a traditionally-shaped bow. Previous Axis wakeboats were built with a pickle-fork bow. So why the change, given the success of Axis Wake boats like the A20 and A22?

“It’s due to the popularity in Australia and New Zealand of the traditional bows,” says David Thorpe, marketing manager at Malibu Boats Australia, which manufactures Axis wakeboats.

“On the Axis T22, the bow is nice and deep, it has plenty of passenger room in the front, and it has really high gunwale rails, so it’s a really dry ride. So it’s been received really well into the market,” he says.

DESIGN

David describes the Axis Wake T22 as the next level in Axis boats. The growing popularity of boat surfing amongst watersports lovers means Malibu Surf Gate is now an option. Other standout features include reverse-facing seating and swivel seating for the driver’s seat. The dash maintains a straightforward, functionality-focused layout. Everything is simple and easy, whether it’s cruise control or operating Surf Gate.

THE TRADE-A-BOAT VERDICT

“The Axis T22 has all the things you need and leaves out all the things you don’t really need,” says Trade-A-Boat’s wake boat reviewer, Marlon Platt.

We love the traditional bow shape with its spacious bow — although the picklefork bow remains a choice if you still prefer that shape. The optional Surf Gate is the other standout. Immediately switch to wakesurfing and when you’re done, switch right back.
