Sapphire Sun Eco Holiday Village

Eden NSW: Sapphire Sun Eco Holiday Village

Every year, when Australia’s Greatest Boats rolls around, Trade-a-Boat looks for a host with the most. Australia’s Greatest Boats is a big beast of an event with up to 50 water-weary boaties needing rest and relaxation during our boat reviewing schedule, plus places to park and good proximity to water and ramps.

It’s hard to find one spot that ticks all these boxes, but for Australia’s Greatest Boats 2016 we did, only 4km from the centre of Eden.

Sapphire Sun Eco Holiday Village

Sapphire Sun Eco Holiday Village is long-established and professionally run facility with amenities for the whole family, whether you’re a boatie or not.

Overlooking Twofold Bay and nestled in a deep and wide valley, it is peaceful and well sheltered. You can even anchor your boat just off the private beach.

The Holiday Village has accommodation to suit large groups, mates chasing the bite or romantic getaways, in everything from unpowered tent sites right up to two-storey chalets, cabins and superior villas.

Accommodation

We stayed in all three types of covered accommodation and appreciated that they were well-stocked with fridge / freezer, microwave oven, crockery, kitchen utensils, cutlery and cookware. Our pick of the bunch — the superior villas — are new and modern, facing east to make the most of the rising sun over the bay.

Each has a private barbecue on the balcony with table and chairs — there’s really no better way to end a long, hard day than to firing up the barbie and relaxing with the sounds of the ocean at your doorstep.

Parking

For the boatie, there is ample on-site parking for even the biggest trailerboats and it’s just 1km to the excellent Quarantine Bay boat ramp.

For land-lubbers, beach fishing is also good in the right season. Reception carries bait, ice and plenty of snacks to choose from and will even book charters for those who don’t bring a boat.

What to do at Sapphire Sun Eco Holiday Village

For the family, facilities include communal barbecues and camp kitchens, a tennis court, bike and kayaks hire, even stand-up paddle boards for something different.

The neighbouring Nullica State Forest offers the chance to see and feel what the NSW bush is all about and nearby Boydtown, much like Eden, has character aplenty with good old-fashioned pub meals and kind service.

We really loved our stay at the Sapphire Sun Eco Holiday Village and are sure you will too.
