2018 Palm Beach 70

Spotlight: Palm Beach 70

NEW MODEL SPOTLIGHT: PALM BEACH 70

Set to launch late in 2018, the Palm Beach 70 builds on the design of the highly-popular Palm Beach 65 that was released in 2009. Notable enhancements include additional volume in the amidships master stateroom and more spacious crew accommodations.

“The initial genesis of the 70 came from customer demand, yet we were able to combine these particular requests with our high standards of performance, hull efficiency and aesthetics,” said Palm Beach Motor Yachts’ CEO and founder, Mark Richards.

Like all Palm Beach models, the PB70 is built on a semi-displacement warped-hull design that produces less resistance to planning. This design also affords a shallow draft and additional buoyancy aft which, in combination with twin Volvo IPS 1350s, delivers an estimated cruising speed of 33kt and a top speed of 38kt.

This level of performance is made possible by Palm Beach’s well-known construction process, which utilises vinylester-infused carbon fibre to reduce weight in favour of structural strength and balance.
The layout of the 70 includes expansive entertainment spaces in both the cockpit and saloon, while large electric windows in the aft bulkhead creates seamless continuity between these spaces. There are dual settees in the cockpit, as well as one on the transom for dining in the open air.

According to Palm Beach, the “best seat on the 70” to enjoy your surroundings is the bow cockpit — a special feature conceived as a relaxing escape whether you’re on the move or dropping a line.

On the inside, the PB70 is highly customisable, which is evidenced by the fact that one of the first hulls will feature four staterooms and four heads.

The first two hulls of the Palm Beach 70 have already been sold, and future hulls can be commissioned as either an express model or with an optional flybridge.
