Airlie Beach Race Week 2016

  • 2016 Airlie Beach Race Week race date announced.

  • Organisers of Airlie race week calling out for sponsors.

  • More race racing sail boats and sponsors sought from Asia.

Whitsunday Sailing Club has formally announced the date for the 2016 Airlie race week. Among the most prestigious yacht races in Australia, the sailing club’s signature Race Week takes place in the heart of Queensland‘s Great Barrier Reef Marine Park at the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands — one of the world’s premier sailing destinations.

Along with the dates of the Airlie Beach Race Week, the Whitsunday Sailing Club has also put a call out for sponsors, including a naming rights sponsor to head-up the event. The Festival of Sailing hosts classes from grand prix IRC racing through to cruising divisions, including fast-paced multihull and sports boat divisions, drawing some 1800 competitors, officials and volunteers each year.

For the 2016 Airlie Beach Race Week, organisers are aiming to entice more entrants and supporters not only from around Australia, but from Asia and further afield.

Off the water, the entertainment line-up for 2016 will include three nights of big-name acts, wine tastings, a long late lunch on the club lawns, a trailer-sailor boat show, dragon boat regatta and a festival fun run.
