Luxury motor yacht builder Riviera was named Marine Industry Exporter of the Year at the recent Club Marine Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Awards at Sanctuary Cove.

Organised by the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia, the awards recognise those individuals and businesses who contribute to the marine export and superyacht sectors within Australia.

The award for Riviera reflects 100 per cent growth in export production revenue for the Coomera boatbuilder and a 72 per cent increase in the number of boats exported for 2014.

Riviera owner and chairman Rodney Longhurst (pictured right) said the award was testament to the innovation and dedication that underpins a growing affection for the iconic luxury marque among boating enthusiasts worldwide.

Other winners on the night included Gold Coast company Barz Optics, awarded Most Innovative Product for its Cabo Floating Sunglasses.

Best Small Exporter was another Queensland company, Artic Steel, designers and manufacturers of cast stainless steel marine engine water strainers. From virtually zero exports in 2011, Arctic Steel now exports to 16 countries across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Superior was also awarded Best Marketing Strategy for its range of products that includes the stunning new Waterscape floating pontoon, and Aqualuma won Best Medium Exporter for its range of LED lighting.

In the superyacht field, Superyacht Business of the Year (Manufacturer) was won by new WA powerhouse Echo Yachts.

Gold Coast Marine and Shipyard and Superyacht Crew International were joint winner of the award for Superyacht Business of the Year (Service Provider).
