New Boat Spotlight: Pearler 62

The next generation of Pearl Yachts are every bit as good as their fore-bearers, and a whole lot more

The superlative Pearl 62 slices through the ocean in exactly the same way its namesake doesn't. It's clear the raked bow and modern design sensibilities are not the characteristics that motivate the comparison between this and the glistening orbs we pry from the mouths of molluscs. Rather, it's the association of culture and high-society glamour that forms a common bond.

Pearl Yachts' new 62-footer was unveiled at Boot Düsseldorf at the start of the year, becoming the smallest hull on offer as it supersedes the successful Pearl 60. The new design includes the popular four-bedroom layout of its predecessor, which has been refined to provide the utmost privacy in a luxuriously comfortable setting. The full-beam master suite has its own dedicated entrance, allowing for discreet midnight snack runs to the well-equipped saloon galley, which has a sliding window that opens onto the aft deck.

So why the extra two feet? The main consideration for designers was to include aft Volvo IPS engines, which propel the sporty hull to a respectable top speed of 33 knots and can stretch the tanks to a 250–300 nautical mile cruising range.

When not pushing the Bill Dixon-designed tub to hair-tussling velocity, owners can settle into multiple outdoor areas to enjoy a range of relaxing activities.

"On the exterior, the emphasis is on offering the owner a great lifestyle from the forward seating and sunbathing area, to the aft deck and hi-low platform, with great connection to the sea, and dedicated storage for jet skis and paddle boards," Dixon explains.

Interior spaces are replete with the characteristically chic designs of Kelly Hoppen, which has been realised through Pearl's bespoke built-in furniture, precise joinery and stylish detailing. The resulting clean lines have been tastefully disrupted with contrasting materials and refined embellishments to complete a cutting-edge yacht interior.

Large windows give the saloon an open,

airy feel, making it an ideal place to kick back among suede-accented cushions on a windy afternoon. But when Poseidon stops to catch his breath you can enjoy the blissful calm from the expansive flybridge, which features three separate seating zones.
