Customised Luxury

Specialising in extravagance, this custom build reaches new levels — five in fact — of opulence

Benetti has long been known for construction excellence and timeless style in specialised luxury yachts. With four categories to choose from (Class, Oasis, B.Now and Custom), owners can work closely with designers to develop a unique vessel literally developed around their needs. The latest result of this process, Metis, is a five-deck megayacht akin to a luxury mansion.

At first glance, the Metis looks like any of Benetti’s builds, with an impressively long, vertical bow and the steel hull and aluminium superstructure used by Benetti for vessels over 45 metres. Two 1380kW MTU engines deliver a top speed of 16kt, while the cruising speed of 12kt give the Metis a range of 5000 nautical miles.

However, it’s the five-deck interior that really sets the Metis apart.

On the flybridge deck, there is a personalised gym. Allowing guests to train inside and outside, dark-coloured side windows give both privacy and an unparalleled view of the sea.

Shaded by the flybridge, the interior of the bridge deck includes the pilot house with two chart tables and a captain’s cabin with private bathroom. External areas were designed to be used at any time of day with a jacuzzi, sunbeds, mini-bar, ice maker and teppan BBQ.

Continuing downwards, the upper deck features a grand piano and bar, with a large relaxation area and round dining table and touch-and-go helipad. However, the standout on this level is the full-beam owners suite taking up the midship and stern section.

Covering 160sqm and framed by full-height panoramic windows, the suite includes his and hers bathrooms, one with shower and sauna and the other with a bathtub and external terrace. Talk about opulence!

The main deck has a section for kids, with a play area and double cabin (with bathroom) opposite a mirror-image babysitter’s cabin that also includes a small private terrace overlooking the sea.

Also on this deck is the main lounge area with backgammon table and a long rectangular dining table. A forward garage, meanwhile, can house a 7.5m tender and two jetskis. Opening via a lateral hatch almost two metres above sea level, it is designed to allow landing operations regardless of the weather.

The lower deck has four spacious cabins and crew quarters for a total of 12, and at the stern is the beach club and cabana. Made up of two extending side terraces in addition to the stern platform, this area offers an original sea-view lounge of unprecedented dimensions.

So if your budget and taste luxury run as far as a grand piano at sea, you know where to go.
