Pre-Loved: 2013 Marlow 78E Explorer

If you’re going to sail around the world, it’s important to do it in style. This was very much the guiding principle when US boatbuilder Marlow Yachts created this bluewater explorer in 2013, blending traditional lines with the very latest in construction techniques and onboard equipment.

The result is a new-generation world cruiser – 23 metres of passage-making pleasure that will confidently transport her owners to any corner of the globe in comfort and safety. Designed in Florida and constructed in China, Solquest is the end result of many years’ boatbuilding experience and Marlow Yachts stands proudly behind its innovative processes.

Perhaps the most important of these (although one you might never see) is the hull, which utilises twin keels to assist stabilisation while boosting top-end speed. These Velocijet Strut Keels dampen roll movement and are further assisted by Naiad fin stabilisers plus a SeaKeeper Gyro for a supremely smooth ride, whatever the conditions.

MODERN CLASSIC

Built in 2013 for an experienced and adventurous owner, this semi-custom explorer yacht enjoys the thrust of twin CAT C18s at the stern, linked to a Twin Disc gear box and a whopping 13,250–litre fuel capacity.

Imagination is the only limit to your adventures with machinery like this at your disposal and truly, this is a yacht designed around spending extended good times at sea, in the absolute lap of luxury.

From the waterline up, the smart navy hull evokes classic cruisers of yesteryear and the traditional theme continues throughout, as matte teak cabinetry meets stylish modern furnishings.

Belowdecks, there are four cabins, comprising a full-beam master stateroom, forward VIP with two single bunks, double guest cabin and another twin bunk cabin for a total overnight capacity of 10 guests, plus crew in the aft quarters.

Solquest has been professionally crewed by her current owner, with all the attention to detail and maintenance schedules you might expect, but this is also a yacht that makes short-handed cruising simple with an experienced skipper.

The commanding upper helm is complemented by wing controls and an aft control station for peace-of-mind while docking, made easy with the Twin Disc Express Joystick System for unrivalled manoeuvrability.

SOCIAL APPEAL

The fully-enclosed bridge includes a dayhead and settee (which can double as a captain’s retreat), but this area also makes a superb social zone for guests while underway.

Even more appealing are the jacuzzi and sun bed just through the aft doors onto the sundeck, where a 2017 model AB RIB tender is stored next to the davit crane.

Back downstairs, Solquest’s aft deck cockpit offers the ultimate in versatility, boasting an expansive gloss teak dining table for alfresco gatherings, and a handy barbecue next to the saloon doors. From here, it’s just a short flight of stairs to the sundeck.

Head down a couple of steps and you’re on the submersible swimplatform – a terrific beach club or site for launching dive missions. A watertight lazarette door here also offers access to the crew quarters and engine room.

Whatever your boating dreams, the Marlow 78E will ensure they are fully realised in the finest style imaginable.

This yacht combines timeless style and limitless function in an easily-manageable size. After that, the rest is up to you.
