Riviera 39 Sports Motor Yacht Spotlight
For many boat owners, much of the joy they get from their floating abodes and fishing pole palaces comes from the opportunity to entertain friends and family on the water. So unless prospective buyers are planning some manner of gruelling solo-circumnavigation, it’s safe to assume that they’ll be looking for something that fulfils their social specifications.
With the release of the 39 Sports Motor Yacht, Riviera have once again proven their intimate understanding of the needs and wants of customers; this three-tier vessel is an entertainer’s dream.
The party starts at the fixed swim platform, which works double-time as both the boarding area and a laid-back grill-station, thanks to a built in barbecue. The cockpit houses a teak table, tucked under an awning, where guests can feast alfresco fresh from the hot-plate. The rest of the space can be left open for free and easy mingling, or optional seating can be folded out of the combing to facilitate a more sedate affair.
VIPs can glide upstairs to the spacious open flybridge, where they’ll get the full lay of the
land from the comfort of a plush L-shaped lounge. The nearby helm needn’t be a lonely post either, as a two-person seat allows casual canoodling or cooperative control of the of the sports wheel, Volvo Penta IPS joystick and various engine operations.
Down in the saloon, American white oak panelling will have guests feeling as if they’ve stumbled into an opulent private member’s club. Their illusion, however, will quickly be dismissed, thanks to the open galley and dining area that creates a warm, communal atmosphere. Another impressive helm-station is located forward to port, next to a stairway that leads down to somewhere a little more private.
The belly of the boat contains versatile accommodation options that can sleep up to five adults; two in a stateroom with a queen-size bed and three in a large room with singles. The spacious rooms and large bathrooms mean the lower decks are useful for more than just the necessities, allowing for any number of after-hours activities.
When all’s said and done, the dash back to port can be taken at a leisurely pace or, if the situation calls for it, twin Volvo Penta D6 IPS pod drives can be opened up to spit out 435 horsepower (each) of turbo diesel fury, which will have everyone back on land before dad even realises the keys are missing.
