It's Back! Kind of.

We've yearned to be back at boat shows, and although the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival is a light version of our favourite, we found plenty.

Held in the same iconic destination as the International Boat Show, the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival feels like it has a lot in common with May's showpiece. The organisers have done a good job of trying to keep the lid on expectation but that might just be clever marketing with the biggest names in luxury boating on display at the marina and plenty of accessories lined up to display within the marine village precinct.

Expect to see the Horizon RP100 featured in issue #526, the Maritimo M70 on this months cover, the Riviera 64 SMY that graced the cover of issue #531 alongside the just-released 50 SMY plus the Princess V65 from the last issue. Fleming will, border restrictions allowing, bring their impressive 55 up from Sydney and of course one of 2020's most anticipated releases, the Lagoon Seventy 8 catamaran, is being presented by The Multi Group. There will be more to see including a new to Australia brand in Mag Bay, a stylish fishing-focussed brand from the US that we think will suit the Gold Coast lifestyle perfectly.

Carparking is probably the one chink in the armour of SCIBS proper, it is expected to be hard to get a park close to the show entrances unless you leave early. Take the bus if you can, as there is a stop right outside the IGA and main entrance. Entry is free but there is a cap on visitors allowed through the gates so, again, try to get in early to avoid possible disappointment.

For those who cannot make it, we'll have one of our best on the boardwalks taking photos and preparing a recap for a coming issue, so stay tuned.

A MULTIFACETED MARITIMO

Featuring four popular models, leading luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo's on-water brand display is set to create a wave of interest at this month’s Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival.

The Maritimo on-water display will be headlined by the revolutionary new X50R Performance Edition sportyacht and the announcement of the exciting new S55 Sedan Motor Yacht, scheduled for its world premiere in May 2021.

“The R Performance Edition is born from decades of our racing experience and technology, symbolising the unearthed advancements of our world champion racing division,” said Maritimo lead designer and current UIM XCat world champion, Tom Barry-Cotter.

“Owners can expect an effortless high-speed cruising experience like no other, as well as a huge assortment of top line lifestyle and entertainment features.”

“The new S55 offshore adventuring sedan motor yacht marks the first of an evolutionary design shift to the exterior form and styling within the S-Series sedan motor yacht range," said Barry-Cotter.

"The key practical design features of S-Series models past remain, with an array of exterior form advancements and additional features included.”

Also, on display will be more information on the M55 Flybridge motoryacht, and its build progress prior to its world premiere in March 2021. The M55 Flybridge Motor Yacht was announced earlier this year and is one of Maritimo’s most exciting model premieres ever, with long order list already secured.

“The new M55 long range cruising flybridge motoryacht fuses the latest advancements in motoryacht technology and design with all of the legacy features of the iconic M-Series models past," said Barry-Cotter.

Apart from the X50R Performance Edition, Maritimo's on water display at the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival will include the X60 Sports Motor Yacht, M51 Flybridge Motor Yacht and M64 Flybridge Motor Yacht.

Maritimo will also showcase its unrivalled diverse skills and craftsmanship with a 43 foot racing catamaran from the current UIM World Champion Maritimo Racing team, as well as the 115-year-old 32 foot Ketch, Katwinchar, fully restored by Bill Barry-Cotter and Maritimo’s Special Projects Division.

A DIVERSE EXAMPLE OF MARITIME EXCELLENCE

Maritimo will have one of the most diverse marine showcases ever seen at a Sanctuary Cove during this month’s Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival.

Located on F-arm, the Maritimo on-water display will include a number of world class luxury motor yachts along with an offshore racing catamaran from the 2019 UIM X-Cat World Championship winning Maritimo Racing, and the 115-year-old, fully restored 32-foot ketch Katwinchar, which took out the Grand Veteran's Class of the Sydney Cruising Yacht Club's 75th Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December.

Maritimo Head of Design, Tom Barry-Cotter said the diversity of the Maritimo showcase was testament to the depth of skills and passionate craftspeople within the company.

"As a part of our Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival on-water showcase we have four of Australia’s latest leading luxury motoryachts on display, alongside one of the world beating Maritmo Racing catamarans and then the totally restored 115-year-old ketch Katwinchar, which was the oldest vessel ever to sail in the Sydney to Hobart and won the Grand Vereran Division," he said.

"There's not another luxury motoryacht company in the world that has that diverse depth of skills and world beating ability."

GINEICO PRESENTS

In the spirit of Gineico’s long tradition of “continuous innovation since 1976”, the team will unveil the new X2 and X3 mini gyro (12VDC models) at Sanctuary Cove in 2020. These tiny gyros are just 42cm square and weigh a mere 130kg. Designed specifically for boats as small as 20ft, this incredible technology is already installed in a number of vessels in Australia with many more gyros currently being installed.

Along with the gyro models, Gineico will be releasing the QNN interface. This clever accessory will allow Quick Gyro owners to operate the market-leading Quick Gyro stabilisers from the large multifunction navigation screens and electronics displays commonly fitted to luxury craft. Compatible with all major electronic brands (Simrad/B&G/Lowrance/Garmin/Raymarine/Furuno) the QNN will make using and monitoring your Quick Gyro stabiliser even easier. Visit the stand for more details and take a closer look at the full range of Italian made luxury yachting accessories.

WHITTLEY'S NEW OUTBOARDS

Whittley Marine Group will mark the occasion of the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival with the release of the new CR 2380 outboard (OB).

As Australia's leading trailerable fibreglass boat builder, Whittley Marine has a keen sense of what local boaties are after. The CR 2380 OB was designed to be a legally trailerable sports cruiser which is ideal for Queensland's boating lifestyle, offering a with the ability to trim the engine up. The outboard-powered design facilitates more storage space in the rear — where the sterndrive once went — while still allowing large areas of swim platform space.

Alongside the new model, Whittley Marine will also be showing the recently released larger cruiser CR 2600 OB.

These new outboard offerings highlight Whittley Marine's customer-focussed approach to design and will no doubt spark plenty of interest at Sanctuary Cove. Visit Whittley QLD Sales stand #D10 to see them for yourself.

RIVIERA RAISE THE STAKES

RIVIERA PREMIERES THREE SPORTS MOTORYACHTS AT SACNTUARY COVE BOATING FESTIVAL

Three magnificent new Riviera Sports Motor Yachts will be showcased together in an Australian premiere at the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival,2020.

The luxurious long-range 72 Sports Motor Yacht, Riviera’s flagship, will premiere alongside the elegant and sophisticated Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht and the superb new Riviera 50 Sports Motor Yacht.

This outstanding Sports Motor Yacht collection will be among six Riviera models displayed at Sanctuary Cove. They will be joined by the stylish 6000 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition, her sistership 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition and the adventurous 575 SUV.

All Riviera Sports Motor Yachts take blue-water pleasure to a new level and share the key design principles of superior engineering, exhilarating sports performance, walkaround side decks, a versatile water sports cockpit and an all-weather alfresco deck. The 72 and 64 have an additional utility room that can be optioned as crew quarters.

The Sports Motor Yachts utilise Riviera’s state-of-the-art engineering design that provides quiet, smooth and effortless acceleration, and efficient cruising.

RIVIERA 72 SPORTS MOTORYACHT — EPITOME OF SUMPTUOUS COMFORT

The latest 72 Sports Motor Yacht introduces a suite of refinements that give greater range and speed, complemented by enhanced guest and crew accommodation.

From the four-sided flybridge ‘sky lounge’ — with its own separate deck — and the deck overlooking the cockpit to the spacious saloon with fine-leather lounge, the 72 is the epitome of comfort. Her distinctive sweeping hull window introduces superb vistas, natural light and fresh sea air to the accommodation deck, which provides a generous four-stateroom design with a full-beam master suite.

The large foredeck, which accommodates an optional davit and tender, converts into a large entertaining area. A side door gives convenient access from the saloon to the port side deck and foredeck.

The 72 is powered by twin 2000hp (1471kW) shaft drive MAN V12 diesels delivering a top speed over 34 knots. This power is a perfect partner for the soft-riding and efficient hull design from world-leading superyacht architect Frank Mulder.

RIVIERA 64 SPORTS MOTORYACHT — ELEGANT AND ULTRA-LUXURIOUS

The elegant and ultra-luxurious Riviera 64 SMY optimises onboard space and offers superior amenity and functionality from bow to stern.

The 64 SMY has four staterooms including a full-beam master, three bathrooms, a large covered deck that expands the saloon deck by 50 per cent, a superbly appointed enclosed flybridge, and a versatile foredeck with plenty of room to either relax and entertain or to accommodate a large tender.

The 64 SMY delivers quiet, smooth and effortless acceleration, and a top speed over 34 knots, powered by the choice of twin MAN turbo V8 (1300hp/956kW) or V12 (1550hp/1140kW) diesels.

RIVIERA 50 SPORTS MOTORYACHT — SPECTACULARLY VERSATILE

The 50 SMY is a spectacular yacht, offering a host of unique features. Among the key design elements is a foredeck where the tender storage makes way for a generous sun lounge and relaxation zone.

A wonderful place to relax on the 50 SMY is the fully covered alfresco deck with day lounges either side. Another of the five distinct living zones, the saloon has two opposing lounge areas that can seat six to eight guests in total comfort.

The 50 SMY also boasts a three-sided glass-enclosed flybridge, and a full-beam master stateroom as the centrepiece of a three-stateroom, twin-bathroom accommodation design.

There is a choice of two efficient power and drive options — twin diesel Volvo Penta IPS 950 (533kW/725hp) or twin diesel shaft-drive MAN i6-800 (588kW/800hp).

Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst said all Sports Motor Yachts share design expertise and a deep level of refinement that places them in a league of their own.

“Our team is proud to present three exceptional models from our Sports Motor Yacht collection, especially two of our premieres, in one location at the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival in November,” said Mr Longhurst.

“The Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival is a prime opportunity for boating enthusiasts to step aboard six magnificent Riviera motoryachts from across our 21-model range that each represent Riviera today.

“The display will showcase 40 years of boatbuilding evolution by Riviera, highlighting six of the best Riviera motor yachts ever produced.”

KOHLER POWER

At Kohler, we believe every generator we make — every weld, wire and circuit — is testament to our quality. That’s why our latest marine gensets are smaller and quieter with less vibration than ever before. We design and build these machines to exceed standards set by industry certification bodies.

We’ve also created the first marine generators with built-in paralleling controllers. Our PGEN connection parallels up to eight Kohler generators of varying sizes with a single communication wire.

Since becoming a 100 per cent Kohler company, Clarke Energy has built on their strong reputation for delivering quality products and service to the South Pacific by developing a highly skilled network to grow the Kohler marine business. While others talk of declining business, the Kohler brand continues to grow in this region with advanced, reliable generators supported by our experienced and skilled marine partners.

SUPER TANKS

Extra long direct route voyages are possible by adding fuel capacity.

SUPER DECK TANKS are made by TURTLE-PAC in Australia and shipped to every corner of the globe, to be used by motoryachts to cross oceans and sailing yachts to explore remote areas as Antarctica, South Pacific and Indian Ocean islands.

Vessels have choice of tanks from 200 litres to 2000 litres, with volume and weight broken up for balance of vessel and for easy handling.

Superyachts over 100 feet often need fuel access to their helicopter deck as well — nothing moves without Jet A on board.

TURTLE-PAC supply them all, including US Army helicopters and Australian Defence, United Nations operations in Africa and more. They're proven, practical, tough, compact solutions.

See the range at www.turtlepac.com and discover details on features, sizes and shapes. Photo galleries show hundreds of vessels using SUPER DECK tanks all over the globe.

FLEMING'S FINEST

Ever the show favourite, Fleming will again impress with their 55, a vessel steeped with history.

The Fleming 55 was first introduced in 1986, and since that time it has benefited from a rigorous program of evolution. While its legendary hull design is essentially the same, today's 55 is a thoroughly modern yacht utilizing advanced technology, materials and construction methods. Having recently launched their 60th 55, it not only stands as Fleming’s most popular model in the four-model line-up but one of the most successful production yachts of this class in history.

Complementing the elegant yet proud trawler-style design, you'll discover an interior of hand-laid timbers polished to perfection, teak and holly floors leather accents that warm and soften the living quarters. With a range of 2000 nautical miles, the 55 puts you comfortably in reach of the Pacific Islands, where you'll appreciate the deep keel design which provides protection for the running gear and stability in following seas. Fleming has paid special attention to producing a yacht which has become the standard in the industry for its whisper quiet, ultra-smooth ride. Fundamental to this achievement is the use of Aquadrive anti-vibration drive systems and an internal fit-out that oozes class and comfort.

There's a chance the borders will not have opened in time for Sam and the crew to pilot the 55 up from her Sydney home. The videos recently uploaded to their website, however, offer a consolation experience if you’re not able to experience the real thing at the marina in Sanctuary Cove.

The Multihull Group is set to bring bigger and better Lagoons to Queensland this year with their flagship and newly designed best seller, the Lagoon SEVENTY 8 and 46, both premiering at Sanctuary Cove.

LAGOON SEVENTY 8

The SEVENTY 8 is the flagship of this magnificent brand, with a staggering 4000nm range, this power catamaran is perfect for stable, safe and luxurious blue water exploration. Suitable for clients considering 35m-plus in a mono-hull due to her huge volume.

Imported exclusively by The Multihull Group (TMG) John Cowpe, managing director commented: “The Australian market has really taken to this new boating concept, with Lagoon Motor Yachts dominating the 60–80ft segment in recent years. The stability, understated luxury, range and overall design just make a lot of sense for many of our clients. The vessel we will be premiering belongs to a world-renowned superyacht owner who saw the huge benefits in this style of yachting. There is little on the market to compare, with this particular example decked out with no expense spared and shows of the exceptional potential of Lagoon Catamarans.”

LAGOON 46

When replacing the best-selling 450F, it was imperative Lagoon got it right and there is no doubt the improvements will stun anyone who hops aboard. VPLP maintain their long term relationship with Lagoon, with the fresh hull design and innovative new rig, featuring the larger square-top mainsail and taller mast which is located further aft, ensuring the vessels perform far better even under load.
