Boston Whaler Vantage 240

Do you have boating fantasies that other vessel's can't fulfil? Well, the Vantage 240 will be whatever you want it to be.

Boston Whaler describe the Vantage 240 as ‘the Swiss Army knife of boating’ — that's a metaphor we can get behind.

Remember your first pocket knife? The incredible versatility of that pint-sized unit, which could cut, screw, poke and saw — not to mention, impress your friends. In later years you'd realise it wasn't the best performing tool for any of its many tasks, but it always stuck around, a go-to solution for simple domestic upkeep and travel DIY.

The Vantage 240 offers that same kind of versatility. It can cater to a wide range of activities, including fishing, cruising, beaching, water sports and entertaining. Granted, it's not likely to win any speed races or haul in record gamefish, but it's more than capable of facilitating unforgettable days out with family and friends. Plus, it's a real pocket rocket when compared to the larger 280 and 320 Vantage models.

It all begins with Boston Whaler's proprietary foam-injected hull, which provides stability and softness as it slides through the water. A V8 Mercury Verado engine provides a satisfying amount of power without sacrificing handling and control, although there are four optional models to choose from.

The convertible seating is socially oriented and versatile, providing conversational layouts that can be easily transformed into lounge spaces. The sporty profile comprises a glass windscreen and integrated hardtop or suntop, protecting the captain and passengers from the elements when underway or at rest. Behind the helm chair is an optional cockpit prep centre, which can act as a snack depot, drinks department or bait station. If the latter is most likely, then you'll also appreciate the in-floor fish box amidships.

All the amenities for a full day on the water are taken care of, including ample USB charging ports, cup holders, a six-speaker sound system (if you opt for it) and a discrete head.  The Vantage 240 comes with a fairly comprehensive list of standard inclusions, but you can also upgrade and accessorise to your heart's content. You could beef it up with a watersports tower or line the deck with SeaDek flooring — you may like the freshwater showers after a dip in the ocean, or want to relax under additional sunshades; or if you like a bit of gadgetry onboard, the Active Engine Trim might be of interest. Just like the trusty pocket toolkit we all know and love, it seems there's a Vantage 240 to suit just about anyone.
