Stage one of Sanctuary Cove’s multi-million-dollar marina upgrade has been completed. Featuring three new piers, one of which is dedicated to superyachts, the upgrade is set to offer 6-star marina facilities for recreational vessel berth-holders.
Following an over $8 million investment, the expansion will increase the marina’s capacity by an extra 66 berths. This will include superyacht berths, dedicated berths for Princess Yachts and Horizon Motor yachts, plus a number of options for private berth holders.
According to Steve Sammes, the Marina general manager, industry demand for berthing and facilities for vessels 60ft and over has driven the upgrade.
“Sanctuary Cove has been recognised as an idyllic boating and lifestyle destination for more than three decades and we are excited to the raise the bar for our visitors to The Marine Village,” he said.
“Some of our berthed yachts make their way to the northern hemisphere and back and this redevelopment ensures that the Sanctuary Cove Marina will offer facilities that rival some of the best recreational marinas in the world.”
The marina redevelopment will also feature a variety of marina and lifestyle facilities such as waterfront restaurants, retail and leisure facilities. Berth holders and permanent tenants will have door-to-marina services with concrete decks wide enough to hold a golf buggy. Superyachts larger than 164ft, meanwhile, will call the dedicated J Pier home.
Princess Yachts Dealer Principal, Greg Haines, believes the new facilities will be a game changer.
“This redevelopment puts the Sanctuary Cove Marina in the same realm as a prestige car dealership in terms of services and facilities,” he said.
“A key part of our decision to call Sanctuary Cove home was the marina upgrade. It’s a great position for out brand and means that we can showcase new and brokerage boats all in one location.”
New berth holders will also be able to enjoy the new, signature Platinum Membership within their rental costs, which will give them access to the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s lagoon pool, Country Club membership, as well as room and food and beverage discounts, plus more.
