Modern Exploring

Looking for a go-anywhere yacht, with a smaller footprint and modern appointments? Look no further.

When it comes to touring the world, the latest trimmings and technologies are a definite bonus, particularly if they are wrapped up in sleek lines and luxurious finishes. Enter the Sirena 88, the newest, and largest, offering from Sirena Yachts.

With interior design by Cor D. Rover and naval architecture from Germán Frers, it’s no surprise the 88 is built with modern technologies and stylish touches. The composite hull and super structure are vacuum-infused, the hull with E-glass and vinylester resin and the superstructure with carbon fibre.

Building the hull this way both reduces the weight of the yacht while optimising its centre of gravity — definitely important considering this yacht is described as a “true expedition-go-anywhere small yacht” — and gives it an expected range of 2430 nautical miles at 9 knots.

Moving inside, the 88 has standard layout of five staterooms, with a main-deck master suite with its own fold-out balcony. Below decks includes a mid-ship VIP suite, a pair of ensuite double guest staterooms and a forward luxury guest cabin. Full-beam crew quarters are found between the VIP cabin and engines, insulating the guests from engine noise.

Coming back up, the main deck has aft seating, with U-shaped and straight lounges facing each other next to large doors that open onto a sheltered aft deck with a dining area. To port and starboard are stairs down to a swim platform and beach club. If al fresco dining isn’t your thing or the weather is picking up, head inside to a formal dining area for 10, catered to by a nearby galley.

The flybridge is a social space all on its own, with a bar to serve another formal dining table or the large cocktail tables surrounded by settees to the aft. Alternatively, take a dip in the whirlpool spa tub or head to the foredeck area. Protected from the wind and spray by high bulwarks, enjoy the dipping pool or lounge on the sunpads either side.

Topping it all off is a raised pilothouse. Not only does this provide excellent sightlines for navigation, it allows all the space below to be enjoyed by guests.

If all of this isn’t quite modern enough for you, Sirena are happy to work with individual customers to create something unique.

“The layout is something that we can change to meet a client’s needs,” said Tanil Surmeli, Sirena’s production manager.

“We are able to play dramatically with the space within the structural confines of this hull. As a semi-custom builder we are open to [a customer’s] ideas.”
